The Texas Society for Music Theory will hold its 38th annual meeting at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. The keynote address will be given by Roger Graybill from New England Conservatory.

Location:

The meeting will be held on the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor's campus in Belton, TX. All sessions will take place in the McLane Great Hall, on the third floor of the Bawcom Student Union. A downloadable campus map is available here.

A TSMT luncheon will be held on Friday, February 26 in the McLane Great Hall, and will feature an Italian buffet. The cost of the luncheon is $16.00. If you wish to attend, please include this amount in your remittance, along with your registration. To participate in the luncheon, registration must be completed and paid by Friday, February 19, 2016. See the registration form for details.

Travel:

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is located north of downtown Belton adjacent to Main Street.

If traveling by car, Belton is conveniently located on I-35 between Austin and Waco. Exit the interstate at highway 93, or 6th St. in Belton. If traveling from the south, it will be exit 294B, and you'll take a left at the traffic light. If traveling from the north, it will be exit 294B, and you'll take a right at the traffic light. Continue down 6th St. until the road ends, and then take a right onto N. Main St. Turn left onto campus at the next traffic light, 9th Ave. Turn right onto University Ave. and then left into parking lot D. You will see the stadium on the other side of the road, and the Union is attached to the east side of the stadium. For Friday, campus police have been instructed to not ticket in parking lot D. Saturday parking is free anywhere on campus.

If traveling by air, there are several airports that serve Belton. The closest major airport is Austin Bergstrom. Belton is about 70 minutes north of the airport on I-35. If you are traveling into Austin's airport and you'd like to try to coordinate a ride or rental car with other travelers, email your arrival/departure times to: jalbrecht_at_umhb.edu (replace the "_at_" with "@").

The most convenient arrival airport is Killen's Fort Hood Regional Airport, located about 30 miles west of Belton. There are several rental car options available. Additionally, UMHB can arrange a free shuttle service from the Killeen airport to your hotel on Thursday and from the conference venue to the airport on Saturday. To arrange to use the shuttle service, please email your arrival and departure times and the name of your hotel no later than February 19, 2016 to: jalbrecht_at_umhb.edu.

When registering for any of the hotels, tell them that you are with the Music Theory conference. If you are flying in and will not have access to a car, and you need transportation to the conference venue, please reserve a room at the Holiday Inn. Rides can be coordinated with other conference attendees. If you need additional assistance with transportation or help in coordinating rides, please email: jalbrecht_at_umhb.edu.

Restaurants:

There are several restaurants close to both the Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn, including Sol De Jalisco, BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Chipotle, IHOP, Subway, Olive Garden, Taco Cabana, and Chili's Grill & Bar. Additionally, downtown Belton has several restaurants to choose from, including The Gin at Nolan Creek, Coronoas De Oro, Scores (sports bar), and Arusha's Coffee and Tea. The Bawcom Student Union has a Starbucks, a Chick-fil-a, an á la carte restaurant, and a buffet-style dining hall.
