My poster relates modal connections by utilizing an interactive tonnetz. A visual representation of modes has pedagogical benefits that can be adapted for basic or advanced exercises. In early lessons, the tonnetz can be used to show how shifting left or right one triangle relates to a different mode. More advanced lessons reveal connections between all the modes, some of which require a leading tone shift up or down to reset the cycle. Participants can interact with my poster by moving felt triangles through the tonnetz pitch space.
