The Texas Society for Music Theory will hold its 39th annual meeting at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas. The keynote address will be given by Dmitri Tymoczko of Princeton University.

Location:

The meeting will be held at the Moores School of Music on the University of Houston's campus in Houston, TX. All sessions will take place in the Moores School of Music building. An online campus map is available via the UH web site. A pass will be required to park on campus on Friday. Parking passes will be available at the TSMT registration table. (Unrestricted parking is available on Saturday.)

A TSMT luncheon will be held on Friday, February 24 in Room 185 of the Moores Building, and will feature either vegetarian lasagna or chicken tequila pasta served with a side salad and dessert (you can indicate your choice of entree when registering.) The cost of the luncheon is $23.00. If you wish to attend, please include this amount in your remittance, along with your registration. To participate in the luncheon, registration must be completed and paid by Friday, February 17 2017. See the registration form for details.

Travel:

The University of Houston is located south of downtown Houston.

If traveling by air, there are multiple airports that serve Houston. The closest major airport to UH is William P. Hobby International Airport, with the alternate being George Bush Intercontinental Airport north of the city.

CONFERENCE HOTEL

Rooms may still be available at the UH University Hilton, but a special rate may no longer be available. Other accommodations are listed below.

People flying into Hobby airport (HOU) might want to stay at a hotel near that location since the rates are fairly reasonable, and only it is only 6-8 miles from UH (though one would want to allow plenty of time for the Friday morning drive to campus.) People flying into Intercontinental (IAH, aka Bush) should not stay near there, as it is a long commute to UH.

• On February 24, the Moores School Jazz Ensemble will perform along with a full performance of the Miles Davis album "The Birth of The Cool" by Houston Area Jazz Artists. Complementary tickets are available if requested with TSMT Registration.
